Includes Upper Stoney, Stony and Clear Lake. It’s called the eastern gateway to the Kawartha Lakes system, linked by the Trent-Severn Waterway. The lake is beautiful and appropriately named. With more than 1,000 islands, this gorgeous lake sits on the boundary of the Canadian Shield, giving it rugged granite shorelines and unique scenery. Located about 2 hours from the GTA and has several restaurants, marinas and activities throughout the season.
There are so many old, unique cottages that have been in families for generations. You will also find state-of-the-art new builds that will take your breath away. Taking a sunset cruise on Stoney Lake is enjoyed by everyone, but keep in mind the name of the lake, be cautious, and get to know the areas that have islands and shoals that have all too often been the culprit of a prop or two being severely damaged.
Enjoy the Sandbar located in the upper part of the lake just past the Stoney Lake Market. You will find many locals and cottagers catching up on a hot summer day. You can enjoy a day at the beach at Quarry Bay Beach or hang out at the falls in Burleigh Falls, grab a bite to eat at Lovesick Lake Restaurant or Burleigh Island Lodge.
This lake is buzzing with activities in the summer, and I encourage you to reach out to the Association Stony Lake Cottagers – https://www.aslcmembers.ca/ to stay up to date on things.
